“Crew Resource Management” (CRM) – 7th Group Announcement

Although Aviation Psychology Certification Programmes are only just beginning to gain traction in our country, psycho-educational training aimed at the self-development of flight crews is, unfortunately, not sufficiently widespread.

Defined as “the use of all available resources—such as existing knowledge, equipment and human resources—to ensure a safe, effective and efficient flight operation”, CRM has been adopted into Turkish literature as “Ekip Kaynak Yönetimi”. It was first introduced in 1979 by NASA under the name “Cockpit Resource Management”, with the aim of preventing accidents in the cockpit by regulating workforce management.

The CRM system was first adopted for civil aviation by United Airlines in the 1980s. Subsequently, under the name “Crew Resource Management”, it was expanded to encompass cabin crew, engineers, technicians, dispatchers, and everyone involved in flight safety.

ÇADEM Psychology is the first in Turkey to offer CRM training independently of pilot training, catering to anyone with an interest in the subject, those preparing for a career in aviation, and enthusiasts.

Based on scientific research conducted on CRM from its inception to the present day, the training places particular emphasis on the “Human Factors (SHELL)” model—the most widely accepted among relationship models—which is also used by UK civil aviation authorities.
